Parasites are common in our pets, especially in puppies and kittens. This section provides articles on each of the most common parasites in dogs and cats.
The most common parasites we see are coccidia, giardia, hookworms, roundworms, tapeworms, and whipworms.
Some of these parasites are zoonotic – this means they can be transmitted to humans. It is important to have your veterinarian evaluate a fecal sample for intestinal parasites at least once per year. In addition, a year round parasite preventative (Heartgard Plus or Tri-Heart Plus for dogs and Revolution for cats) will keep your pet safe.
